Walsall Football Club have now confirmed that central defender Paul Downing, who recently rejected the club's offer of a new contract, has today penned a deal with recently relegated Milton Keynes Dons, as manager Karl Robinson builds his squad for the upcoming Sky Bet League One campaign.
In a brief statement, released via Saddlers.co.uk, the club confirm; Walsall FC can confirm that Paul Downing has today signed a contract with MK Dons, commencing on 1st July. We wish him all the best for the future and thank him for his efforts during his time at the Banks’s Stadium.
24-year-old Taunton-born Downing, who has penned a two-year deal with the Stadium:MK side, came through the ranks at local side West Bromwich Albion and joined Walsall in 2012, going on to make over 180 first-team appearances.
