Earlier today, Walsall attacker Romaine Sawyers was named among the St Kitts and Nevis starting XI as they took on Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the Second Round of Qualification for the Scotiabank CFU Caribbean Cup 2017.
The match, which was played at the Arnos Vale Stadium in Kingstown, Saint Vincent, was a competitive affair as the Sugar Boyz looked to end this stage of qualification with a 100% record and their opponents sought to take all three points following their defeat to Suriname at the weekend.
St Kitts opened the scoring after five minutes of play as Sawyers, who was fed the ball following a swift move down the left wing, squared the ball to Canyon Rockets striker Javeim Blanchette, who slotted home to pile more pressure on to the home side.
Both sides continued to have chances, including a penalty shout for St Vincent as Nazir McBurnette went down in the box, nothing was given as play continued, and, despite their best efforts, the hosts couldn't break down a solid St Kitts back-line and ultimately exited the competition as the Sugar Boyz and Suriname advance to the next stage.
