As we reported on Saturday, Walsall midfielder Sam Mantom has emerged as a transfer target for 2015/16 Sky Bet League 1 Play-Off winners Barnsley, as they prepare for life in the Championship.
It is now understood that the Tykes, who defeated Millwall at Wembley Stadium in May's Play-Off Final, have turned their attention to Mantom following their former loanee Josh Brownhill's decision to join Bristol City instead of accepting a summer switch to Oakwell.
24-year-old Mantom made forty-seven first-team appearances over course of the 2015/16 campaign, and was the Saddlers' second highest goalscorer as he bagged nine goals in all competitions.
Stourbridge-born Mantom, who has made over one-hundred first-team appearances for the Saddlers since returning permanently in January 2013, has been offered a new two-year deal by the Play-Off Semi-Finalists, and has until Monday, 20th June to decide on his Banks's Stadium future.
