On Saturday morning, Walsall's Under 18s travelled North and took on Port Vale Under 18s in the latest Football League Youth Alliance (North West) fixture of the season.
Ahead of today's game, Walsall's most recent Alliance match saw them defeat Burnley by three-goals-to-one, as a first-half Tobias Hayles-Docherty brace was followed up by a William Shorrock goal, ten minutes into the second half.
Meanwhile Port Vale's most recent match also took place last weekend and saw them defeated by title-chasing Bury, as the Shakers scored three unanswered goals.
Today's match was a competitive clash, which saw Walsall goalkeeper Dan Jezeph save a penalty as his side went on to win by two-goals-to-nil. A Nathan Owen free kick along with a Lezion Cela strike proved enough secure three more points for the Saddlers as the Alliance season continues.
