Walsall's Interim Head Coach Jon Whitney has spoken to the local press ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet League 1 meeting with Oldham Athletic, and has discussed his belief that the current crop of players do not have to leave the club to achieve success.
Speaking via the Express & Star, Jon said; “I truly believe that if you can work in a collective – everyone has the chance to be successful and have a better career. Whether you want to win titles, earn more money or go down in the record books – whatever it is that motivates them – we have got it right at this club.
“That is why we have got a chance because we are a team. And if you don’t fit into the team you are probably not going to be at the club. Everybody is here for a reason. The players play for each other – they don’t just do it for themselves. You can see that in how they celebrate.
"Everybody has got their own agenda but that’s life – we all aspire to do different things. But the players know if you can do it for the group and your team-mates then individually you have a greater chance of success.”
