Walsall Vice-Captain Paul Downing has spoken to club journalists ahead of this afternoon's Sky Bet League 1 clash with Millwall, and has discussed the importance of team spirit among his teammates as they seek to move three points closer to promotion.
Speaking via Saddlers.co.uk, Paul said; "The relationships are strong and we know each other’s games. That’s probably the reason why we’ve been able to be consistent with our performances. There’s continuity and a great team spirit.
“We’re working hard on the training pitch and everyone is improving and we enjoy playing together.”
Paul also discussed the importance of respecting each and every opponent, he said; “We respect every opponent in this league. It’s always going to be a difficult match whoever you’re playing, regardless of where they are in the table, at this stage of the season.
“We had a good test against Millwall on Boxing Day and got a good win. It’s going to be another tough game but we’re looking forward to trying to get three points at home.”
Paul went on to talk about what Head Coach Sean O'Driscoll has brought to the side along with discussing how important the supporters are as the club makes a push for promotion. You can read the full interview, HERE.
