The Express & Star are today reporting that former Oldham Athletic and Doncaster Rovers manager Paul Dickov has applied to to take over the vacant managerial position at Walsall Football Club, following the departure of Dean Smith and Richard O'Kelly to Championship side Brentford.
The Express & Star report; The former Arsenal and Manchester City striker has applied for the job, left open by Dean Smith’s departure to Brentford on Monday.
Dickov, 43, was most recently at Doncaster Rovers, who sacked him in September with the club 17th in the League One standings following relegation from the Championship last season.
The 10-capped Scotland international previously had a two-and-a-half-year stint in charge of Oldham Athletic, who he guided to a shock 3-2 victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup, only to resign a week later as a result of the Latics’ poor form in League One.
