Walsall goalkeeper Neil Etheridge has spoken to club journalists ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet League 1 clash with Rochdale, and has discussed the Saddlers' season so far, insisting that the team can continue to prove the doubters wrong.
Speaking via Saddlers.co.uk, Neil said; “We had a flying start to the season and people obviously questioned how long we could keep it up for. And maybe we’ve proved them wrong now we are still up there going into 2016.
“But we are a very good team and we know that, and the confidence comes from the dressing room and the people around us.
“I don’t think any player in that dressing room wants to stand still and be like ‘okay we are top of the league in 2015’. We want to be there at the end of the season in 2016.”
Neil also discussed the level of togetherness within the squad, he said; “The dressing room is fantastic. It’s one of the best I’ve been in, if not the best. They’re a great bunch of lads - a good laugh on the field and a great laugh off it. But when it comes down to a matchday, as you can see, we give 100%.”
The Saddlers stopper also went on to thank Walsall fans for their support over the first half of the season, you can read the full interview, here.
