Several media outlets are now reporting that Sky Bet Championship side Brentford are set to confirm the appointment of Walsall manager Dean Smith as their new first-team manager, following a day of discussions with the West Bromwich born former central defender.
The Daily Mail report; "Brentford expect to appoint Dean Smith as their new manager in the next 24 hours. The Walsall boss has been in advanced discussions with the Championship side over the role and it is understood Smith has agreed a package with the west London club to take over the top job.
"It emerged over the weekend that the Bees had approached Walsall about appointing Smith. And Brentford chiefs, barring any late mishaps, look to have bagged their man."
