Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to local media ahead of this weekend's Emirates FA Cup First Round clash with Fleetwood Town, and has confirmed that Manchester City have granted the Saddlers permission to play on-loan midfielder George Evans in the tie.
The Saddlers are currently without midfielders Sam Mantom and Isaiah Osbourne through injury and this will come as a big boost ahead of matchday, as they seek to emulate their recent Capital One Cup adventure and make it through to the next round.
Meanwhile Dean Smith, speaking to the Express & Star, confirmed that while he is interested in extending Evans' loan agreement, he is yet to discuss it with the Citizens, he said; “I haven’t needed to speak to Man City yet. We have got a really good relationship with them and they have been really pleased with his progress. We update them on how well he is doing.”
