Manchester City defender Ellis Plummer, who is currently training with the Walsall squad as manager Dean Smith considers adding him to the side, was part of the Saddlers XI that defeated Rugby Town in the First Round of the Birmingham Senior Cup.
Plummer, who joined City from Stockport County in 2006, did not complete the full 90 minutes as he departed with an injury and will be assessed by club medical staff.
First-teamers Matt Preston, Amadou Bakayoko, Liam Kinsella and Jordan Murphy were also part of the side that progressed to the Second Round on penalties, with goalkeeper Dan Jezeph making headlines with two fine spot kick saves to take his side through.
