Walsall midfielder Sam Mantom, who narrowly missed out on the Football League's August Player of the Month Award to Coventry City's loaned-in striker Adam Armstrong, has spoken to the local press and revealed that he has already changed his goal-scoring target after notching three in the opening month of the campaign.
Speaking to Joseph Masi of the Express & Star, Sam said; “The target has changed – it is now double figures. At the start of the season I was aiming for five or six. But to get out of August with three, I’ve now got to go for double figures.
“I said at the start of the season I need to get more goals. To improve my game it needs to happen. But three goals in a single month is something I didn’t really think I could do. I’m delighted it has happened though so I can now got to aim for double figures."
