On Saturday morning Walsall Football Club's Under 18s side will play host to Accrington Stanley Under 18s in the opening game of the 2015/16 Football League Youth Alliance (North West) season.
Ahead of the game, Saddlers Head of Youth Neil Woods has spoken to the club's official website and discussed his side's pre-season campaign, along with looking ahead to Saturday's opening FLYA match.
Speaking via Saddlers.co.uk, Neil said; “For us, we have a turn over of players every year. The second years either get contracts or get released so we've got ten new lads in and they've been fantastic.
“They've trained really well during pre-season so I'm looking forward to seeing how we adapt to a competitive environment.
“I'm very pleased with the condition they came back in. They were all given individual training programmes and they've obviously followed them and done some extra on top.
“So we've been able to work them probably harder than we anticipated and that’s a credit to their attitudes already.
“Accrington are a very honest side. We’re aware of the other teams we face but for us it’s all about what we do.
“We think we've got another group of really talented players and if we perform to the levels we have during pre-season then we should give Accrington some problems."
