Former Leeds United midfielder Zac Thompson, who spent several weeks on trial with Walsall, has this evening penned a deal with Vanarama National League side, Guiseley, following a brief trial spell.
Born in Wigan, Greater Manchester, Thompson, who can play both in midfield and defence, began his career as an apprentice with Premier League outfit Everton but signed his first professional contract with Leeds United, in 2011.
Over the next four years Zac, who is 22-year-old, went on to make around ten first-team appearances for the the Whites, and enjoyed a successful loan spell with Bury, where he went on to make almost thirty first-team appearances before being released at the end of last season.
Zac spent a few weeks on trial with Walsall and made appearances during the Saddlers' pre-season friendlies against West Bromwich Albion and Chasetown, but rejected the Saddlers' short-term offer in favour of a longer deal elsewhere.
