Recently relegated Sky Bet Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers have this afternoon completed the signing of former Huddersfield Town midfielder Oscar Gobern, bringing an end to a summer of speculation that included a possible move to Walsall FC.
Oscar was released by the Terriers at the end of last season and was immediately linked with a move to Walsall, something that was also backed up by manager Dean Smith, who confirmed his interest in mid-July.
However, in a statement released via QPR.co.uk, Rangers confirm that they have completed a deal, they said; "QPR have completed the signing of midfielder Oscar Gobern.
"Gobern has signed a one-year deal at Loftus Road, after impressing on trial during pre-season.
"The 24 year-old, who left Huddersfield Town at the conclusion of his contract last season, will wear the number 17 shirt."
Birmingham-born Gobern began his career as an apprentice with both Aston Villa and Southampton, and went on to sign pro-terms with the Saints in 2008.
Oscar made around twenty first-team appearances for Southampton, and spent a brief loan spell with Milton Keynes Dons, before joining Huddersfield Town in 2011, for a tribunal decided fee of £275,000, which would rise to £400,000 after a certain amount of appearances.
The former England Under 19 international made over 70 appearances or the Terriers and also enjoyed a brief loan spell with Chesterfield in late 2014.
