Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the local press ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet League 1 clash between the Saddlers and Coventry City, and has insisted that it is far too early to be looking at the table, and the only thing that motivates him is collecting all three points.
Speaking to Matt Maher of the Express & Star, Smith said; “I think the motivating factor, the biggest one, is it’s the next game and we want to win it. We want to set our stall out at the start of the season and show people what we are about.
“We believe we have a lot of quality. That it is first vs third at the moment is not significant because it is too early. There are 43 games to go, a lot of games and a lot of points to play for.
“The biggest thing for us is it’s the next game and if you can get three points you can chalk them off.”
