PAPER TALK: Chambers Hopes to Build on Forest Win

Walsall captain Adam Chambers has spoken to the local press ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet League 1 clash with Southend United, and has taken a look back at Tuesday evening's Capital One Cup win over Nottingham Forest and insisted that if the team can put in more performances of that ilk then there is no reason why the Play Off places should be out-of-reach.

Speaking to the Express & Star, Adam said; "We put in a great performance at Forest and I thought the lads who came on did excellently, as well. It was one of those performances you just hope you can build on.

“The thing is playing like that consistently in League One. I’ve said many times that we can put in these performances against top teams. It’s just that consistency. We’ve got to be doing it week in, week out. If we can do that, we will win a lot of games.

“Like I always say, and I feel like I’m always repeating myself, when you work with the lads day in and day out, I know the talent in the squad and I know the potential of a lot of the young players.

“I feel that we have a very good squad and there’s no reason why we shouldn't be finishing in the top six. We just need to make sure we are consistent and keep putting those levels of performances in and we will win more games than we lose if we do that."
