Following his brief appearance during Tuesday evening's pre-season friendly defeat to West Bromwich Albion, former Leeds United midfielder Zac Thompson has continued his Walsall trial spell with a goal-scoring appearance for the Saddlers as they took on Chasetown at the Scholars Ground.
The Saddlers, who at the time led the game by one-goal-to-nil, saw their lead extended just before the half-hour mark as Thompson stepped up and slammed home a twenty-five yard, left-footed, half volley, with the 'keeper having little hope of making a save.
Born in Wigan, Greater Manchester, Thompson, who can play both in midfield and defence, began his career as an apprentice with Premier League outfit Everton but signed his first professional contract with Leeds United, in 2011.

Over the next four years Zac, who is 22-year-old, went on to make around ten first-team appearances for the the Whites, and enjoyed a successful loan spell with Bury, where he went on to make almost thirty first-team appearances before being released at the end of last season.
Zac spent a few weeks on trial with the club earlier this month but was understood to have failed in his bid to earn a deal, this swiftly changed as he was invited back and made the aforementioned appearance against the Baggies.
