Former Leeds United midfielder Zac Thompson has this evening been named among the substitutes for Walsall Football Club's pre-season clash with local Premier League outfit, West Bromwich Albion.

Born in Wigan, Greater Manchester, Thompson, who can play both in midfield and defence, began his career as an apprentice with Premier League outfit Everton but signed his first professional contract with Leeds United, in 2011.

Over the next four years Zac, who is 22-year-old, went on to make around ten first-team appearances for the the Whites, and enjoyed a successful loan spell with Bury, where he went on to make almost thirty first-team appearances before being released at the end of last season.

Zac spent a few weeks on trial with the club earlier this month but was understood to have failed in his bid to earn a dea.
