According to news sources close to both clubs, Sky Bet Championship side Brentford and League 1 outfit Wigan Athletic are close to a transfer agreement for former Walsall striker, Will Grigg.

Following last weeks' news that the Latics had a bid of £700,000 rejected, it has now emerged that the two clubs have come closer to an agreement, with the deal expected to be concluded very soon.

24-year-old Grigg, a former scholar from the Walsall FC Centre of Excellence, joined the Bees in July 2013 for a tribunal set fee of £325,000, which also included various add-ons.

Will scored over twenty-goals last season during a successful loan spell with Milton Keynes Dons, who were once favourites for the Northern Ireland internationals signature.

The deal, which will see Grigg join former Walsall goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell at the DW Stadium, is said to be worth in the region of £1,000,000, of which the Saddlers set to receive 20%, as per the tribunal ruling.
