Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the local press as he continues to prepare for the 2015/16 Football League campaign, and has insisted that it's often easier to attract new players after the start of pre-season training.
Speaking to Joseph Masi of the Express & Star, Smith said; “It’s the same every year – after the first two weeks of pre-season training you often get a second wave of players becoming available.
“Our options will increase because players will go back to their clubs and realise they aren’t part of their managers plans. While the out-of-contract players, who haven’t yet been fixed up, will now be getting very nervous.
“It will be two weeks without wages for them now so, all of a sudden, they become more keen to get something sorted and the demands come down.”
