Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the local press as he continues to prepare for the 2015/16 Football League campaign, and offered an update on the clubs' pursuit of Manchester City striker Jordy Hiwula.
Speaking to Michael Beardmore of the Walsall Advertiser, Smith said; "I spoke to Manchester City at the end of the season, told them how he had done and said we would be very interested in taking him again.
"They said they were having a meeting at the start of pre-season and deciding on Jordy's future. I'm due to speak to Manchester City this week but I have already spoken to his agent.
"He's going to have bigger clubs looking at him simply because he came here last season and scored nine goals in 18 games for us.
"If it becomes an issue with the sort of money people are talking about, then obviously we wouldn't be in the race.
"But if Man City feel he's got a future for them, they might be looking to get him out on loan again – and they know how well he did with us so they might want to try that again."
