Walsall manager Dean Smith, who recently completed the signing of right-back Jason Demitreou and goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, has spoken to the local press, and discussed his sides' new shot-stopper, insisting that the Philippines international has been on his radar for some time.
Speaking to the Express & Star, Smith said; “We looked at a lot of goalkeepers and we got it down to three really good candidates.
“They all ticked the boxes but Neil came out on top in terms of potential development and just how good he could turn out to be.
“I was aware of him at Fulham where he developed under the tutelage of Schwarzer.”
