Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the club's official website and discussed the squad's recent trip to Wales, hailing the three days as an important part of his pre-season preparations.
Speaking to Saddlers.co.uk, Smith said; "It was a really worthwhile trip. The lads were out on runs at 6.00am in the morning... some of them didn't realise there were two six o'clocks each day!
"These kind of things get the players out of their comfort zones and it helps us to understand their character.
"It also gets them to understand each other and drive each other on in a different environment. We benefitted greatly from the trip, it was an enjoyable experience and an important part of our pre-season preparations."
