Last week the Walsall Football Club first-team squad made their return to training ahead of the 2015/16 campaign, with everyone focused on hitting the ground running against Oldham Athletic, on Saturday, 8th August.

Whilst Walsall don't play their first 'official' pre-season match until Tuesday, 21st July, the Saddlers do have several 'behind closed door' matches scheduled and are due to travel to Wales on Sunday for a few days of training away from their Essington Training Ground.

On Tuesday evening Head Physio Jon Whitney revealed that the players had completed an average of 40,000 meters since returning to training, and have almost finished their medical screening, with the squad set to be given a clean bill of health.

It is understood that the Saddlers' trip to Wales will be similar to the trip to Snowdon that the side took in December 2012, and will include training exercises along with kayaking and mountain walking as they ramp up their sessions ahead of the season's opening day.
