Wigan Athletic have today confirmed the signing Northern Ireland international striker Will Grigg from Brentford for an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old former Walsall striker passed a medical at the DW Stadium earlier today and has put pen to paper on a three year deal with Latics.
As we have reported over the last few days, Walsall will receive 20% of the transfer fee, which is believed to be in the region of £1,000,000, thanks to a tribunal ruling following his initial transfer to the Bees in 2013.
Solihull born Grigg began his professional career with the Saddlers, having signed from non-league Stratford Town in the summer of 2008.
The striker made his debut in the first team by December 2008, and in a five year spell with the club, he scored twenty-seven goals in sixty-three league starts and ninety-nine league appearances in total.
In 2013, he made the move away from the Banks’s Stadium to sign for Brentford and scored four in sixteen starts for the Bees, but found first team football hard to come by, sparking a move to MK Dons last term.
Will shone in Sky Bet League 1 in 2014/15, scoring twenty goals in thirty-one starts for MK Dons, as well as grabbing a brace at the Stadium MK in their famous 4-0 victory against Manchester United in the Capital One Cup.
