On Tuesday evening Walsall Football Club played host to local Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion in the latest pre-season friendly ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.
Following the game, Walsall manager Dean Smith spoke to the club's official website and discussed his pleasure at his sides performance, but has admitted that the lack of goals is a disappointment.
Speaking to Saddlers.co.uk, Smith said; "There were plenty of positives to come out of the game. Against very good opposition, we took the game to them, which was the most pleasing aspect.
"The only disappointment was that we couldn't find the net, but we tried out a different system, one that we have wanted to have a look at for a while.
"It was brave to do it against a team like Albion, but the players responded well to it and against lesser opposition we would have scored three or four.
"It's good to see a lot of the players in good form and confident. We will take plenty of heart from that."
