Doncaster Rovers manager Paul Dickov has this afternoon spoken to the press local to his club and has conformed that defender Liam Wakefield has rejected a new six-month deal with the club in favour of a move elsewhere.
The Sheffield Star report that Dickov understood that Liam, who can play at both right and centre-back, was set to sign for Walsall however it has since emerged that he had rejected Rovers' offer in favour of a trial with the Banks's Stadium club.
His Rovers departure comes after seventeen appearances and two goals for his hometown club, and was also regularly named a substitute over the last two seasons.
Liam was said to be frustrated to have only been offered a six-month deal despite many of his young teammates penning two-year deals and has opted to look elsewhere ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.
