Walsall Football Club will have to wait for their share of former striker Troy Deeney's next transfer fee as the Birmingham-born forward has today penned a new five-year contract with the Vicarage Road club.

In a statement released via WatfordFC.com, the club confirm; "Watford FC captain Troy Deeney has committed his long-term future to the Hornets by signing a new five-year deal.

"Deeney’s Championship goalscoring record of 81 goals in 220 games during his time at The Vic is impressive enough, before you factor in a huge number of assists as well.

"In hitting the net 21 times during Watford’s promotion-winning 2014/15 season, the 27-year-old entered the club record books in notching 20-plus goals across each of the last three terms.

"The Hornets No. 9 has already completed half a decade at Vicarage Road, joining on the first day of the 2010/11 season from Walsall."
