Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the local press as he continues to prepare for the 2015/16 Sky Bet League 1 campaign, and has discussed striker Amadou Bakayoko, revealing that the Sierra Leone-born front-man has six months to prove his worth and earn a new deal.

Speaking to the Express & Star, Smith said; “It’s a six month deal. He has so much potential but sometimes it is not always there and we have to draw it out of him and he has to draw it out of himself, to be more consistent.

“There is a lot more development in him, he went out on loan to Southport last year, initially did really well and then had a bit of a lean spell. He came back and then did really well again.

“We know at the moment it will be a rollercoaster for him, up and down. We want to try and get that consistency from him. We think we can draw it out of him.”
