According to various media reports, Walsall Football Club have been joined in the race to sign Huddersfield Town midfielder Oscar Gobern by fellow Sky Bet League 1 sides Coventry CIty and Crewe Alexandra.
Birmingham-born Gobern, who is predominantly left-footed, enjoyed a brief apprenticeship with Aston Villa before joining Southampton, he went on to sign pre-terms with the Saints in 2008, going on to make over 20 appearances over the next few seasons.
The 24-year-old has held talks with the John Smith’s Stadium club, but nothing has been signed and he is free to consider other offers and it now seems the ex-England Under 19 international’s Town stint may be about to end after four years.
Signed from Southampton for a tribunal-fixed £275,000, he has gone on to make 79 appearances for the Terriers but has had an injury-plagued couple of seasons, and was loaned to Chesterfield in October 2014, but went on to make an impact at Town during the closing stages of the campaign.
The Walsall Advertiser, Huddersfield Examiner and Coventry Telegraph have all confirmed their local sides are interested but are all yet to table an offer.
