Walsall manager Dean Smith has once again spoken to the local press as he and his team continue to prepare for the start of the Sky Bet League 1 campaign, and has insisted that the coming season could be one of the more open of recent times with several sides capable of competing.
Speaking to the Walsall Advertiser, Smith said: "In terms of stature, you've got Sheffield United and Coventry City who can command fair attendances.
"Millwall, coming down, have obviously spent a long time in the Championship, and Wigan have spent an awful lot of time in the Premier League – and with their parachute payments they will certainly be a force.
"But I think it could be a really open league this season and that's why we want to give it a right good go."
