Walsall midfielder Sam Mantom has spoken to the local press as he begins his summer break, and has rejected claims that the Saddlers are "too soft", and has insisted that there is no lack of passion in the dressing room.
Speaking to the Express & Star, Sam said; “I wouldn’t say we were too soft – maybe people are looking at the last half an hour against Bristol City. That was a very weird ending to the season.
“The gaffer and the staff have put a training ground in place where it’s a pleasure to go to work. Everyone who has come here has improved but we want to be successful and we want to get promoted.
“Don’t get me wrong, when things go wrong, people stand up and be counted. Words are said behind closed doors. People won’t say it in public but it does happen, just like I think it happens at every club.”
