Following Dean Smith's revelation that he was planning to meet with prospective new signings over the weekend, speculation was rife with several names being bounded about over social media.
One player heavily linked with the Saddlers is soon-to-be former Milton Keynes Dons 'keeper Ian McLoughlin, who spent a spell on-loan at Banks's Stadium in 2013.
Dublin-born McLoughlin, who is understood to be on the club's radar, is set to depart Stadium:MK at the end of his current contract on 30th June, fits the mould of a goalkeeper, under the age of thirty, with scope for improvement, something that ranks highly on Dean Smith's list of 'wants'.
However, on Saturday afternoon Ian took to Twitter and replied to Walsall supporter Liam Stewart, who had asked if him had been the 'keeper set to meet with DS, Ian responded with; "It wasn't me I'm afraid." (SIC).
Smith has previously stated that Ian is on a list of about a dozen goalkeepers, also rumoured to include former Tranmere Rovers stopper Owain Fôn Williams, that he is keeping tabs on, but, at least for the time being, there are no plans to meet.
