Walsall midfielder Sam Mantom has spoken to the local press to give an update on his fitness as he heads into the summer break, and has insisted that he is looking to play a part next term and regain his 'Player of the Season' status.
Speaking to the Express & Star, Sam said; “First and foremost, I want to have a complete pre-season. It’s massive – if you miss a large chunk of pre-season, you struggle to get your fitness back and you’re always fighting to get it back when really you can’t because you’ve got games coming up.
“That’s the main aim and to make sure I’m stronger than I’ve ever been before so I can push on during the season and hopefully get my player of the year award back.”
