Later this afternoon Walsall manager Dean Smith will begin a series of meetings aimed at securing the futures of his core players, whilst informing others that their services will no-longer be required.
Ahead of those meetings Smith spoke to the Express and Star, and confirmed that he will secure his key players before bringing in new faces, he said; “What I will do is deal with the players I’ve got at the club over the next week and see where we go from there.
“I am sitting down with the chief executive, Stefan Gamble, and the players so we know where we’re at and what we need to do to move the club forward.
“Bristol City have certainly shown us a blueprint of how to move forward, because they were excellent.”
