Walsall manager Dean Smith has this afternoon confirmed that he is interested in re-signing former Milton Keynes Dons goalkeeper Ian McLoughlin, who spent a spell on loan with the Saddlers in 2013, and has been released by the Dons following the end of the 2014/15 Sky Bet League 1 campaign.
Speaking to the Walsall Advertiser, Smith said; "I've probably got a dozen names on the list and Ian is one of them.
"What we would like to get is a keeper between 23-27 years old so we can develop them, although I'm not ruling out an older one if a really good, experienced keeper jumps out at me.
"There are a lot of keepers out there. I've spoken to a lot of agents and there have certainly been a lot of people who have approached me and would like the opportunity to come to Walsall.
"I think players know that what Walsall will give them is a massive opportunity - we did it before with Richard O'Donnell and also with loan keepers like Ian and Sam Johnstone. And they have all done really well.
"What we are not going to do is get anybody in on loan. We want somebody to come in who we can develop further and who can compete with Craig MacGillivray for the number one shirt."
