Earlier this evening, Southend United and Wycombe Wanderers clashed in the Final of the 2014/15 Sky Bet League 2 Play Offs, with a place in next season's Sky Bet League 1 table up for grabs.

The match, which went all the way to extra-time before seeing a goal, was a tight affair and saw both sides have first-half goals disallowed by referee Simon Hooper.

Wycombe Wanderers opened the scoring via a Joe Jacobson free kick in the fifth minute of extra time, the former Shrewsbury Town defender's strike hitting the underside of the crossbar and rebounding off highly-rated 'keeper Daniel Bentley and crossing the line.

Southend leveled in the scores in the final minute of added on time at the end of the second half of extra time, a Joe Piggott strike, which slid past Wanderers' 'keeper Alex Lynch enough to get them back in the game.

Southend won the match 7-6 on penalties, a Jim Bolger strike enough to send them up following Sam Wood's miss in sudden death.

Sky Bet League 2 Champions Burton Albion, second placed Shrewsbury Town, and third placed Bury will join Wycombe in League 1 next season.

The League 1 Play Off Final, which is between Preston North End and Swindon Town, takes place at Wembley Stadium tomorrow evening.
