Walsall attacking-midfielder Romaine Sawyers has spoken to the club's official website as he prepares to go out on international duty as his St Kitts and Nevis side take on El Salvador in a two-legged 2018 World Cup qualifier, and has discussed his desire to make the most of the learning experience.

Speaking to Saddlers.co.uk, Romaine said; “It’s going to be a great experience. This will be the biggest International test to date for me and I am really looking forward to it.

“I haven’t done much research on El Salvador myself but they are ranked higher than any other country I have faced, so it speaks volumes about the competition we will face.

“We’ve got a training camp in Mexico ahead of the game where we’ll go through all of the pre-match preparation and analysis.

“Richard O’Kelly tells me that El Salvador is one of the highest places above sea level in the World, so that will make the second leg a whole new experience for me.

“If we are to be successful, it’s a hectic schedule. There are further qualifying rounds to come before we reach the group stage, which gets underway in November.

“Hopefully we can continue to make progress. Being involved in International football and sampling the different styles and cultures certainly adds to the learning process.

“It can only benefit me as a player and as a person both on and off-the-field."
