Walsall Football Club defender James O'Connor, who yesterday put pen-to-paper on a new one-year deal with the club, has backed the Saddlers to thrive next season and has insisted that the side should 'aim high'.
Speaking to the Express & Star, James said; “With a good start to the season and some momentum, I can see no reason whatsoever why we can’t be up there challenging.
“There are no real stand-out teams and with the quality we have here, we have to aim as high as we can."
James also spoke about his first year with the club, he said; “It was a frustrating first six months, the first time I had really been looking to get a run of games together for the best part of two years.
“I came through it and after Christmas I was happy with my performances, especially at centre-half.
“At this stage of my career I would say it was my preferred position. When I was younger I was a right-back but I have played as a centre-back for hundreds of games.”
