Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the local press as he continues his preparations for the 2015/16 Sky Bet League 1 campaign, and has insisted he will not be splashing the cash over the summer.
Speaking to the Express & Star, Smith said; “It would be stupid to say we can just throw money at it and expect amazing results. What is important is we go and find a balance. We know we cannot go and compete financially with a lot of clubs in this league.
“We have got to find a balance of developing players but also winning games to win promotion. To do that, team spirit is key, togetherness and young hungry players balanced with some experienced players who have the drive to win. That is how we have to do it. You could say money never guarantees you anything.”
