Mansfield Town have today signed former Walsall Football Club defender Malvind Benning, who was released by the Saddlers at the end of last season.
In a statement released via MansfieldTown.net, the club confirmed his capture and welcomed Mal to the club, they said; Manager Adam Murray has fought off competition to capture the signing of left-back Malvind Benning on a free transfer.
The 21-year-old, who was previously with Sky Bet League One side Walsall, featured on more than 50 occasions for Dean Smith’s team and also spent time on loan at York City last season.
Born in Sandwell, West Midlands, the youngster graduated through the academy ranks at the Banks Stadium and signed a professional contract in 2011.
After a loan spell at Evesham United, he made his professional debut for the Saddlers in November 2012 and continued to improve week-on-week.
He spent time on loan at York City in 2014/15 and made nine appearances in the Minstermen’s successful battle to stave off relegation.
Speaking shortly after sealing the deal, manager Adam Murray said: “We’re over the moon about Malvind signing for us. He had a number of options from a higher level, but chose to be part of our vision.
“He is a young attacking full-back that has good experience at Football League level and will bring good quality to our team.”
