Following the Hornets' promotion to the Premier League at the weekend it is now understood that they will have to pay Walsall £75,000 this summer, and the same again if the Hornets survive the next campaign.
It has frequently been reported as a £150,000 fee payable upon promotion but the Watford Observer now claims that half of the figure is dependent on the Golden Boys remaining in the top flight next season.
Initial reports claimed that the switch, which was for a total of around £650,000, included a £150,000 promotion clause, but reports suggest that a chunk of the remaining £500,000 was also part of the 'additional clauses' section of the deal - and it is unclear if they all clauses were activated.
