Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the club's official website following Tuesday evening's Sky Bet League 1 draw between his Saddlers side and hosts Swindon Town, and along with criticising referee Iain Williamson for an extremely poor penalty decision, has praised both sides for a great game of football.
Speaking to Saddlers.co.uk,Smith said; “First and foremost, it was a superb game of football. It was two teams intent on playing the right way.
“They started the game well and it took a while for us to get into it, but when we did we looked very good; we passed the ball with purpose and when we went two goals in front it was game over.
“But the decision to award Swindon their first penalty was a game changer. It gave them the impetus and at 2-2 it would have been easy for our heads to drop, but we kept at it and got back in front before being pegged back again.
“It really was end-to-end stuff and credit must go to both teams for producing such a great game of football.
“I was pleased with how the lads reacted today; it extends our unbeaten run and now we look forward to getting back onto home soil at the weekend.
“Our fans were excellent tonight and gave us great support throughout. They will be pleased with our attacking intent and show their appreciation at the end.”
