On Saturday afternoon Walsall Football Club will play host to Fleetwood Town in the latest Sky Bet League 1 clash of the season, ahead of the game Fleetwood manager Graham Alexander spoke to his club's official website to preview the match.
Speaking to FleetwoodTownFC.com, Graham said; “The players are in a really good place at the moment. We are playing well, scoring goals, keeping clean sheets and winning football matches.
“We had a fantastic Easter weekend. We went to Gillingham, which is a tough place to go, and we won 1-0. We had to follow our performance up on the Monday against Yeovil and we did that. It was important we didn’t rest on the first result.
“We started well against Yeovil and got into a good lead. We showed great maturity in the second half to see the game out and score another goal to win 4-0. To win two games, score five goals and keep two clean sheets, we were really pleased with the players.
“Walsall will be very hard to beat. They are good defensively, very similar to ourselves. They enjoyed a fantastic cup run this season and reached Wembley in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy. We know they are a good team from the game we played them earlier this season.
“We want as many fans with us as possible on Saturday to cheer the team on. They showed great spirit down in Gillingham because we know how long the journey is.
“We want the same at Walsall because we want to finish the season strongly. We need that support both at home and away. Hopefully our fans will see us put on another good performance and get a positive result.
“It is an exciting time for everyone. This has been our first ever season in League One and to be in this position, I think everyone would have taken that at the start of the year.
“The season is still alive going into the last five games. The players have handled themselves extremely well over the course of 41 League One matches.
“It isn’t over yet though and we don’t want it to be over. We have five games to give it our best possible shot and to win as many points to see where it takes us.”
