Earlier today, Walsall Football Club's Under 18s side played host to Morecambe Under 18s in the latest Football League Youth Alliance (North West) fixture of the season.
Earlier today, Walsall Football Club's Under 18s side played host to Morecambe Under 18s in the latest Football League Youth Alliance (North West) fixture of the season.

The young Saddlers sat in sixth place ahead of kick off, having won eleven, drawn three, and lost six of their twenty league games.

Morecambe were in fifteenth position with a record of won three, drawn one, and lost eighteen of their twenty-two league games, the young Shrimps had also conceded an impressive sixty-seven goals so far this campaign.

It was Walsall that took the lead just after the thirty minute mark, midfielder Nathan Owen finding the back of the net following some positive attacking play.

The Saddlers squandered a chance to double their lead just before the break as a penalty wasn't converted.

In the second half the Saddlers extended their lead via Levi Rowley and Tevin Shakespeare securing all three points for the home side.

Morecambe also bagged a goal during the second half, via an as yet unnamed man, but this wasn't enough to affect the result of the game, as Walsall emerged victorious.
