THE TRUST: 1974/75 FA CUP REUNION THIS WEEKEND

The Walsall Football Supporters' Trust have announced details of a reunion of members of the Saddlers 1974/75 squad that advanced to the Fifth Round of that season's FA Cup competition.
The Walsall Football Supporters' Trust have announced details of a reunion of members of the Saddlers 1974/75 squad that advanced to the Fifth Round of that season's FA Cup competition.

The Saddlers defeated Ashford Town by three-goals-to-one in the First Round, before knocking Newport County out with the same score in Round Two.

Walsall met Manchester United in Round Three, and after a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford, knocked the Red Devils out 3-2 in the Fellows Park replay.

The reds defeated Newcastle United 1-0 in the Fourth Round, before taking on Birmingham City at St Andrews in Round Five.

The match, which took place on 15th February 1975, ended 2-1 to the Blues in front of over 45,000 supporters. City went on to be knocked out of the competition by Fulham in the very next round.

A number of Walsall Football Club's 1974/75 squad will be in attendance when the Saddlers take on Port Vale at the Banks's Stadium on Saturday, which will be just one day short of the 40th anniversary of the Birmingham City match.

George Andrews, Dave Robinson, Brian Caswell, Colin Harrison, Nick Atthey, Stan Bennett, Alan Birch, Roger Fry and Bob Parsons will dine in the Bonser Suite prior to kick off before being led onto the pitch at half time. then hope to meet and greet supporters in The Saddlers Club Members Lounge for a period following the game.
