Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the press following Tuesday evening's Sky Bet League 1 defeat top Preston North End, and has discussed his disappointment as the Saddlers' unbeaten run away from home came to an end.
Speaking to Saddlers.co.uk, Smith said; “It’s disappointing. There were too many five out of ten performances and not enough seven and eights, to be fair.
“We started slowly and were poor on the ball during the first half. It’s not like us to take so long to get going, but we improved after the break and controlled it.
“The goal that eventually beat us should never have stood. There was a clear foul on Rico in the build-up and now the lad is in hospital awaiting an x-ray after his shoulder popped out.
“I feel aggrieved but we move on now to the next game and look to get back into winning ways.
“There were positives to take out of the game; Romaine Sawyers did well when he came on and showed me how much he wants to be out there playing.”
