Walsall Football Club manager Dean Smith has spoken to the club's official website following Saturday afternoon's Sky Bet League 1 draw between Walsall and hosts Bradford City, and has praised his side for taking a hard-earned point back to the Banks's.
Speaking to Saddlers.co.uk, Smith said; “It was a very hard-earned point on reflection. It was two teams trying their hardest to win the game but the conditions didn't help.
“It was a fair result; we tried to play when we could but I felt we were maybe a little too deep in the second half, which is understandable given the condition of the pitch.
“It was always going to be a second-ball game and I was pleased with the way in which we reacted to going a goal behind.
“Our equaliser was well-worked; it was a good cross from Jordan Cook and a nice finish from Jordi Hiwula.
“In fairness, it was a game of few chances and it wasn’t a great spectacle, but we battled it out and worked hard all over the pitch.
“It’s a difficult place to come, so it’s a big point for us and now we get ready for another tough one at Preston on Tuesday.”
