On Saturday afternoon Walsall Football Club will play host to Leyton Orient in the latest Sky Bet League 1 fixture of the season, manager Dean Smith has spoken to the press ahead of kick off, and provided an injury update.
Firstly, Smith discussed the plight of left-back Rico Henry, who came off during the Saddlers' Sky Bet League 1 defeat to Preston North End with a suspected separated shoulder, speaking to the Walsall Advertiser, Smith said; "Rico will have an MRI scan in three or four days which will give us an idea of the severity of the damage and whether there is a nerve issue. But I suspect he will be out for a few months rather than a few weeks which is disappointing because he's been playing well.
"We have a 24-hour recall on Mal Benning from his loan spell at York and I'll assess the situation on Friday."
Smith also provided an update on Vice-Captain Paul Downing, who missed the mid-week defeat to Preston North End with a thigh injury, he said; "Paul Downing has a tight thigh and with the amount of games we have coming up we didn't want to risk him at Preston so we'll have to assess that too."
Finally Smith provided a brief update on James Chambers and Tom Bradshaw, he said; "James should be fine – he's a proper central defender now so four stitches in his head should be no problem! And Tom Bradshaw will be part of the squad on Saturday – he had a flu bug which knocked him back but he's fit now."
